Bronx Museum of the Arts: Free Art You Shouldn’t Miss
Guía rápida
The Bronx Museum of the Arts shows contemporary urban art, including a solid selection of New York's famous graffiti.
The Bronx Museum collection

The first thing you notice is the building itself, an architectural landmark in the Bronx.
It has been around for a century and works as a cultural hub, an education center and a gathering place for the city's northernmost borough.
The museum sits on the Grand Concourse, the wide avenue that cuts through several Bronx neighborhoods, designed in the late 19th century by a French immigrant, Louis Aloys Risse.

It specializes in urban art, so it brings together an interesting selection of street art, graffiti included.
Its permanent collections include works by American artists of African, Asian and Latin American descent.
It also shows work by artists whose subject matter is tied to the different Bronx neighborhoods.
If you are exploring the area (it is very close to the Edgar Allan Poe Cottage!), go in. Admission is completely free.
