It also has a Grammy (1999) for best music.
Buying cheap tickets to The Lion King
- Lion King tickets sell out fast, since it's the most popular musical on Broadway. If you want to see it, it's important to buy your tickets online and in advance, at least a month before your trip.
- Morning and matinee performances are much cheaper than evening ones.
- If you're lucky enough that your trip lines up with Broadway Week, you can get 2 tickets for the price of 1 (September and the second half of January).
- You can try your luck at the TKTS booths the same day, but there's no guarantee you'll get seats since this is one of the first shows to sell out (read up on how to buy tickets at TKTS)
Audio guides in Spanish
If you don't want to miss any of the story, you can rent Spanish-language audio guides right at the theater (they cost around US$ 10).
This service isn't an exact translation, but commentary that puts each scene in context and helps you follow the plot.
That said, if you've seen the movie you really don't need it. Just enjoy the music and the choreography without any distractions 😉
