About Newyorkando
Guía rápida
Hi, I'm Andrea Hoare Madrid, the editor of Newyorkando, a New York travel guide written by one traveler for others. Here I share what I've learned after years of traveling to this fascinating city.
My goal is for you to arrive and enjoy yourself, without getting lost in the New York subway like I did on my first trip 🤣😉.

Why did we create this New York guide?
New York is so big and there's so much to do that it can overwhelm anyone who wants to get to know it. But don't worry! You've got my firsthand recommendations for exploring the city of Frank Sinatra, Woody Allen and Don Corleone.
Another of my goals is for you to understand the city better and not stick only to the usual tourist spots. Many of my articles were written to the rhythm of Gershwin, others while remembering scenes from movies filmed in New York that sparked my interest in the chaos and vitality of the capital of the world.
I still remember my first crush: it was watching Ghostbusters back in 1984. And of course, on my first trip to New York many years later, one of my first stops was the Ghostbusters headquarters. I had to see if it really existed 😆👻.

The most important tip for traveling to New York
Of all the tips for traveling to New York I can give you, here's the most important one: be patient, you're not going to see the whole city in a single trip. You have to come back! And if you're anything like me, this city will become your addiction.
After many trips, I've accepted that it's impossible to take in New York completely. This cosmopolitan city is always changing.
You have to come back many times and give yourself time to let the city surprise you. On every trip there's always something different, a new New York bridge you hadn't crossed or some corner you'd overlooked.

Who are we at NewYorkando?
I don't write this New York guide alone. My partner in crime is Flavio Bastos. Together we invented a life writing about our travels, and it happened during a meetup in New York, fittingly enough.

He's the wizard behind the curtain, the one who keeps this content machine well oiled while I watch movies, read, write and teach Digital Content Strategy at the School of Journalism at the University of Chile.
How is NewYorkando funded?
Oh! I almost forgot. To be completely transparent, I wanted to tell you that several of the links you'll find throughout Newyorkando are affiliate links to well known, trustworthy platforms.
That means if you go to one of those sites and book one of their services, Newyorkando gets a commission from the platform. It's never charged to you.
This is one of the ways we can share all this content with you for free after years of investing in books, movies, plane tickets and hotel bookings (which makes it sound like traveling was a real hardship XP).
If you're more of a social media person, you'll sometimes find me on Facebook and Instagram, and if you'd rather send an email, write to me at [email protected]. But call me stubborn, I prefer my own website for telling you about my love for NY ❤️.
