MoMA PS1: Where New York’s Boldest Art Lives
MoMA PS1: Where New York’s Boldest Art Lives
Guía rápida
MoMA PS1 is the branch of New York's Museum of Modern Art devoted to the latest trends in contemporary art.
You can visit for free by showing a MoMA ticket (which you can buy online) bought within the last 14 days. Keep in mind that this ticket is not valid for special exhibitions. And if you only want to visit PS1, I've listed the prices at the end of the article.
What to see at MoMA PS1

This MoMA outpost specializes in the most extreme and experimental forms and genres of contemporary art.
It's a space that showcases the work of emerging artists, so the lineup is constantly rotating. This is not a museum with permanent collections.
New trends at MoMA PS1
If you're into new trends, stop by MoMA PS1 every time you come to New York.
This artistic laboratory puts on more than 50 shows a year, plus free music programming in the summer that has turned it into a cultural landmark.
Emerging architecture
PS1 also supports emerging architecture through its Young Architects Program (YAP).
It's an annual competition, and the winners get the chance to design installations for its outdoor spaces.
The structures that host the summer music festivals, for example, are designed through this program.
Exploring Long Island City
PS1 occupies a former school building in the interesting Long Island City neighborhood in Queens.
Along with Dumbo and Williamsburg, this neighborhood is packed with galleries and draws artists and contemporary art fans, taking over from Manhattan as the epicenter of new trends.
Long Island City, for instance, was home until 2013 to 5 Pointz, the mecca of street graffiti, an urban art form that keeps gaining acceptance in the art establishment.
